What fuel should a Toyota Avensis wagon (2.4L) import 2006 be run on?
The information I have shows this vehicle runs on high octane fuel - 95 or higher.
I am looking at this vehicle as well but a slightly later model. What will happen if Octane 91 fuel on this vehicle?
The octane rating is the amount of compression the fuel can withstand before detonating. In the short term it's unlikely to do any harm but if you use the lower octane fuel for long enough it could cause engine damage. The lower octane fuel will cause pre-ignition to occur, the engine management system will try compensating for this, which will cause reduced performance and increased fuel consumption.
You should keep within the manufacturer’s guidelines to prevent any engine damage from occurring.
