I have had a number of Honda's and kept a record of fuel usage. It's interesting to compare them.
All are auto's.
1984 NZ Prelude 1.8 9.1/100km.
1985 JDM CVCC Prelude 1.8 7.8l/100km
1988 JDM Civic 1.6 7.2l/100km
1992 BB1 Prelude 2.2 7.2l/100km
2008 Civic 1.8S 6.8l/100km.
All long trips but for last one which was 580km including 50 round town km's and had the A/C on all the time. Shows the difference time makes doesn't it.

Manufacturers are forever improving the fuel consumption and reducing the exhaust emissions of their vehicles and in some cases even manage to improve performance slightly as well.
