My Diesel Soul plus runs very well and I am very satisfied with the vehicle .I ensure my fuel is purchased at high volume service stations.Usually B.P Ultimate. When discussing fuel quality with my Kia service manager he suggested as an extra precaution that I use an additive for common rail diesels when refuelling. This is reasonably expensive but I know the warranty does not cover fuel quality problems and I want to feel secure. Your thoughts please. Thanks
We made contact with Kia NZ staff on this question and they were able to confirm our initial thoughts, that was; these engines require no additional additives.
They will be reminding their Dealer network of this as a result of your recent experience.
All modern common rail diesel engines are what we call ‘very sensitive’ in comparison to the older Diesel technology.
That basically means clean fuel is critical as is only using the manufacturers recommended fluids (none more critical than the engine oil) and approved filters and sticking with their routine maintenance schedule.
Thank you for your help.I am sure the advise was meant to be helpful as I have full confidence in the car and its care by the provider. Care with the fuel source is obviously vital.
