I have recently bought a Subaru Impreza 1500 i wagon. It is 2005 and has done 8500 km. I am wondering what the expected fuel consumption should be (mix of city and motorway) and the running costs per km.

A quick search on the fuel$aver website (see link below) is suggesting around 8.8L/100km as an average fuel consumption.

Overall operating costs would be around 53 cents per km.
