I have been asked to use my car on business. What rate per km should I charge?

I run run a 2002 3 litre V6 Honda Accord

The IRD have flat rate of 74 cents per km regardless of vehicle size or fuel type.

In comparison, the NZAA calculations are broken down into specific engine size and are based on ownership of a new vehicle over a 5-year period.

For a vehicle with an engine size of 3 litres, the AA's operating cost is 78.1 cents per km.

Depreciation is one of the biggest factors with a near new vehicle and is taken into consideration when calculating the AA figures.

As vehicles get older depreciation has a much less impact.
