Forum Fuel and economy Price of petrol rises the day before a 10c discount is offered

I have noticed that it is quite common on the day before the 10c discount appears my local BP Palmerston North Fitzherbert outlet raises the price of the petrol by 3c per litre. Such action effectively wipes out the 10c disount.
Does this happen everywhere in NZ?
