I currently drive a Toyota Granvia 1998 and I'm looking to downsize. I'm considering a hybrid vehicle and I would like to know (a) the typical running costs compared to my current vehicle, and (b) what are the potential disadvantages/hidden costs of a hybrid? For example, diesel (even with RUC) is much cheaper than petrol for the Granvia, but registration costs and parts are typically higher than for a smaller, petrol vehicle.
Hi there,
The overall fuel economy of running a Hybrid can be quite low, the only thing I know of that could give issue is the hybrid battery. I recommend checking availability and pricing of the battery just incase it should ever require replacement.
I am not aware on any ongoing or extra maintenance costs when owning a hybrid.
