i bought my car less then 2 moths ago. just within 2 days there was a very disturbing noise from the engine or somewhere near every time i put gas on and every time i am accelerating. (obviously didnt make noise while i was test driving cuz i only drove for 20 mins) my mechanic advised me that it is good to call the car dealer for the noise. so i did. i advised him that my mechanic said that the noise sounded like on going problem. he asked me to see his service provider. the service provided advised me that it was due to i was putting the wrong fuel and it will go away once i am in the right fuel. but it didnt the noise got louder and louder. i went there again and he advised me this is something to do with the chain or what not. my problem is i dont have service warrenty but i got it from a dealer. its nissan note 05 auto for $4,100. is the dealer still liable to pay for the fix or will i have to pay for it? if i do then how much is it going to cost me to change the chain? please let me know as i in a delama.

Hi there,
The Consumer Guarantees act gives some cover for newly purchased vehicles bought from a trader/ dealer. This ensures that the vehicle is durable and fit for purpose. It will need to be determined if it is classed as normal wear and tear or if there is a fault with the vehicle which is causing a noisy timing chain. I would expect it could cost in excess of $1000 to remedy properly.
