I have an old 1973 MGB. I have noticed that the ignition light is now slow to go out and has a faded glimmer until doing about 2000rpm. previously the light was always out at idle speed. Is this an indication that my alternator is faulty and should be checked out?

Yes it does sound like the charging system may need checking, this is a common occurrence with older vehicles. My Mini and Escort used to be the same once upon a time.
