I am trying to estimate the expected average costs of repairs and maintenance of small, medium and large cars, vans, SUVs etc in NZ that were manufactured in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. I wish to use this to assess the financial benefits of electric cars in NZ compared to their Internal Combustion Engine counterparts. Does AA have a database of these costs or reports that can provide averages? If so, I'd be grateful to get copies.

The only document we have is our AA Running cost report available for purchase $20 for AA members. It is based on new vehicle costs for the first five years of ownership and a travel of 14k a year. It is broken up into four engine size categories in both diesel and petrol. It breaks all the costs of vehicle ownership over a 5 year period and averages it out to a cent per km amount. It is a pdf report and can be purchased on 0800 800 333, opt 2.
We update the report in April of each year.
