Hi,
I have a 2016 Hilux with manual gearbox. On our Christmas break I would find that once the car have been cruising longer than half an hour it would be hard to disengage a gear, e.g. downshifting from 5th to 4th.

Engaging the new gear would be fine. No noises or grinding, just moving the gearstick out of the gear to the neutral position requires some force to be applied.

Subsequent gearshifts would be fine until cruising in a particular gear for a longer period, then the same issue occurs. Shifting is fine on shorter trips.

I realise I will have to take the car to the dealer, but keen to hear your thoughts on a 6 month old car behaving like this.

Diesel, 4wd, manual, 9000kms on odo.

Thank you

Hi there,
Not a problem we have heard before on a vehicle so new, it may be a "wearing in " thing. But definitely something to bring to the dealers attention and have it documented, they might want to check/replace the gearbox fluid to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your reply. I thought it was strange too so will contact the dealership and keep proof of the correspondence.
