My car has strong petrol smell when parked or after petrol tank filled up. What is the problem? Thanks

If there is nothing obvious, you really need to get the car into your local garage so they can check the fuel system out thoroughly.

One possibility for the smell could be the fuel pump/fuel level sender unit seal (located at the top of the tank) allowing a small amount of fuel seepage.

This may only happen when the tank is full and only give off a smell rather than any tell-tale signs of leakage.

Another part of the fuel system to look at is the ventilation system. Depending on the age of the vehicle it may have a ventilation hose which is allowed to exhale fumes into the cabin.

Possibilities are a lit bit endless to be honest.
