Hi, I went to turn the car on (2001 Toyota Corolla) it 'connected' but would not fire up. I turned off, waited 5 seconds and tried again but this time it would not connect as before. I waited 5 minutes then moved the gear out of park, through reverse, drive, 2nd gear then back to park, turned on and had a struggle but it fired up ok. It usually takes only 2 'wind-overs' (only way I can explain the sound or its attempt) before the motors running) I left it running for a few minutes and switched off. Tried again an hour later and it struggled, but eventually kicked over. I live in Te Kaha, BoP, an 1 1/2 hours drive from Whakatane. Can you explain what might be happening and is there an agent who can come and check my car out at home please? I am a St Johns ambulance volunteer on call 4 days a week in Te Kaha and need to know my car is reliable to get me about. It has regular services, wof, etc since my ownership in 2013. Current mileage is 320K, next service due 325k.....

It is difficult to determine however a battery failing or starter motor problem, could cause these symptoms then move to other electrical componentry e.g. inhibitor switch or ignition switch.

Unfortunately there is not really enough information. Your best bet your may wish to contact this approved repairer for further investigation of your cars issue.
