Looking to upgrade our family car to a 7 seater. We have been looking at Mazda MPV 06 new shape and upwards (non turbo) and Subaru Exiga 08 and upwards (non turbo as well). Just wondering what is likely to be the most reliable and also just wondering about the safety ratings of these vehicles as well.

Being Japanese imports, information is hard to come by for these vehicles and it can be hard to find what safety items can be included in the Japanese domestic specs.
The Subaru being all wheel drive would give better on-road stability, but could potentially be a little less fuel economic than the Mazda. You may need to physically look at both and see how they compare for passenger room for the rear most seats, as one may have a little more than the other.
