I have owned this vehicle for 12 years. It has travelled 302,000kms mostly over longer distances. The vehicle still travels well once it gets going. My observation is that when it starts travelling from cold the CVT works well, but once the car has warmed up, starting from standing still at say a busy intersection can be a bit nerve-racking in that it takes some time to get up momentum. The local Nissan dealers told us that the gearbox needs replacing. However it puzzles me that most of the time and especially at higher speeds it behaves impeccably. Can you throw any light on this problem. Bert Schoneveld, Whakatane.

Hi Bert,
Transmissions rely heavily on oil pressure to feed the solenoids to make the transmission operate. However as the oil temp warms the oil gets thinner and the pressure drops as fluid fails to reach its destination, now the fluid takes more effort and time to operate the solenoids and torque converter thus creating problems when taking off. This is a common problem with a lot of transmissions when they get old, they rely on such fine operating tolerances, the slightest amount of wear can affect the transmission operation.
