Hi there,

The gas struts on the hatch of my 1993 Ford Laser need to be replaced and I would like to undertake this myself as normally it would be a straightforward job from what I have seen but the only problem I have is they don't seem to be a straight forward strut to remove.

The end that attaches to the hatch itself is a ball/cup but no pin or any sort to be found and the other end is more of a normal hinge that is attached to a bracket by two bolts.

I have had a look around google but haven't found much as all I come up with are the struts where you pull the clip up with a flat head screwdriver!

Any help would be great and failing that I guess I will have to bite the bullet and take it to someone who knows what they're doing!!

Thanks

Hi there, some cars have the ball that actually screws out of the body like a bolt. Maybe have a look and see if the ball piece has some flats on it to put a 12mm spanner.
