Our 3 door Toyota Rav4 has a very strong petrol smell coming from the vicinity of the petrol filler.
It is particularly noticeable after the car has travelled some distance and is put away in the garage

Your fuel cap may be just venting some fumes. I would take your car to a technician
to check that the fuel cap is working correctly/ and the correct one for the vehicle.
It could just be a normal function, but better to have it checked.
