My Nadia has done 95000 without any problems. Lately started with irregular engine missing at cruising speed (50 - 60). I had spark plugs replaced (huge cost) and the Service Centre noted serious build up of carbon in the inlet manifold. They cleaned it out as best they could. New plugs did not solve the problem. Now considering replacing coils
(Arm and a leg). Any advice on this issue please?

This seems to be a common problem with these engines. Usually you start with the simple tasks and trace it back to the more serious. Toyota specialists may be helpful to advise on repairs, but it sounds like the garage you are taking it to are on the right track.
Worst case senario I have heard that the cylinder head may need removal in order to clean out the valves?. ( hopefully you don't need to do this)
