I have a "chattering" noise in the engine compartment of my new Impreza not unlike tappet rattle. The Agents mechanics tell me the noise is coming from the fuel injection unit. Is this a characteristic of the "new" Impreza motor, or something I should be concerned about. If all the new model Imprezas make this noise, you would think Mr Subaru would've added some acoustic insulation over the injector block.

The noise of injectors firing can sound a little like tappets under certain circumstances - this isn't only on Subaru, but many cars. As long as this is the cause of the noise, it isn't a fault, but it's just a characteristic.
Yes, perhaps some additional insulation may have been of benefit!
