Re battery charging on a 1998 Corolla GLX auto.

Only the positive lead needs to be taken off the battery before connecting the charger?

We always advise disconnecting both cables from the battery, the "trickle" type charging of most battery chargers can effect the sensitive electronics on modern motor cars.

Airbag computers also have capacitors which store voltage for a significant amount of time.

By disconnecting the battery completely from the vehicle's circuit you can charge safe in the knowledge the electronics are not being effected by the charger.

Also be aware you may lose your preset radio stations and in some cases a specific code needs to be re-entered before the audio system will work once the battery has been disconnected.
