When we turn the ignition off and remove the key the radio is tuned to a certain channel. Now and then though the next time we turn the ignition on we find the radio has changed channels all by itself. Snag is it doesn't do it every time and sometimes it doesn't even move to the same new channel. We have mentioned this to the dealer but he couldn't replicate this fault so should we pay to take the car to an auto electrician or do we just have to put up with it ? Car is running out of its three year makers warranty in July.

The Holden dealer is best placed to resolve a problem such as this as they have access to all the manufacturer's technical information and have the correct diagnostic equipment.
Intermittent problems such as this are the hardest to find, but it's important to make sure the complaint is logged with Holden prior to the expiry of the warranty to ensure it is covered, even on expiry of the warranty.
Is Holden NZ aware of your complaint? Sometimes, the manufacturer may be able to shed more light on such a problem and assist the dealer to rectify the fault.
Personally, I'd take the car back to the dealer along with a letter (keep a copy), explaining that you want the problem sorted out under warranty.

Thank you for your reply but after thinking about it some more I will wait until August and get it sorted then.

OK, I'm not sure what the significance of August is (car due for a service then?), but I'd make sure that Holden at least have some record of the problem prior to the warranty expiring in July, as you will have a harder job getting them to pay once the warranty has expired.
