My 2013 Ford Fiesta is 9 months old and has done 8,700km. It makes an intermittent but frequent rubbing/grinding noise which seems to come from underneath the car and which I initially thought was the suspension or something loose, eg muffler. I took it back to the Ford dealer to have it checked and was told that the noise is from the transmission and is normal for this model of car. Do you know anything about this 'normal' noise? Do you know whether it is common in new Fiestas? Should I be worried?
Vehicles have mechanical components and for this reason it's not abnormal to hear some operating sounds. It is unclear which sound you are referring to and we would suggest that you should test another vehicle of the same year and model to confirm this - or take the vehicle to another Ford dealer to confirm the diagnosis.
