I have a Nissan Pulsar 1996. The engine stoppes and it glides to a halt. AA Road Service said it's the air flow meter. Do I need a new one now? How much does it cost? What is the best place to go? I live in Christchurch.

Judging by the amount of reported faults we have had in recent times, it seems airflow sensor failure on Nissan Pulsar's is a reasonably common problem.

Yes, it will need to be replaced.

I have heard costs to be around the $350 mark (parts and labour) but don't hold me to that.

Have a look at the attached link for a AA Licensed repairer in your area.

They will need to confirm the airflow sensor is faulty, so expect to pay for some diagnostic time in the final account.
