Hello. I have a 2003, 1800cc NZ new Corolla wagon. It has done 120,000 k's. It has a whine from the front end when coasting at around 60-80 Kmh. It disappears when you accelerate or take your foot off the accelerator. Looking at various websites and forums there seemed to have been an issue overseas with transmission bearings of this model. Can you advise if there has been anything relative identified in NZ by Toyota or via the AA with this model? Any advice appreciated!
The symptom certainly sounds like it's transmission or diff related. I'd suggest you take it to a transmission specialist for an opinion.
