Hi there,

I've been wondering lately whether turning the steering wheel on my car to full-lock while manoeuvring tight spaces/parking lot often will damage the steering mechanism in the long run ?

My car is a toyota runx and it has an electric power steering from what I can tell ( there's a P/S light on the dash and there are no P/S fluid container to be found in the engine bay).

I park my car a few blocks away from where I work and it's a small tiny street where alot of other people park their cars too, so I often have to use full lock-to-lock to manoeuvre the car.

So I'd like to know if in the long run it'll damage the power steering mechanism ..or..be bad for my tyres.

Thanks in advance !

Turning your steering wheel full lock will not damage the steering rack or electrically assisted motor - the steering system is designed for this - nor will it have a notable effect on the tyres.
