Re my newly purchased 2004 Model Pulsar Q Auto. It has done only 12,000km's so I presume it has been used mainly around town.

Yesterday I drove 150K at a moderate speed, possibly the biggest trip the car has done.

The floor under my left foot became decidedly warm - the temperature gauge showed the usual reading.

Is the higher floor temperature normal?

I would say the normal heat which is generated from the engine and transmission when driving on the open road, is being transferred to the engine bulk head and surrounding areas.

The exhaust system which runs down the centre of the vehicle would also create some warmth to be felt through the floor especially by your left foot.

The normal outside air temperature would also play a part in determining how much heat is retained in this area on a given day.

In summary, I think the condition is normal however if you feel the heat is excessive, then get it checked out. A quick inspection of the under-gear when the car is on a hoist or over a pit will quickly reveal any abnormal problems.

A four year old car done only 12,000km sounds a great buy.
