Hello
My vehicle is 2001 Opel Astra CD.
In the last few days my right front wheel has had a knocking noise coming from it.
On a flat smooth road its fine but over small bumps there is a knocking noise.
It sounds like the noise if you knock on your desk with your knuckles.
I have taken the wheel off and can not replicate the noise by moving the wheel or the brake and suspension.
Any idea of the cost to take a look and possible repair.
I will bring the vehicle in for service in the next few days but if shock issues are expensive i will need to organise funds.

The noise could be as a result of numerous problems - eg: worn brake calliper pins, worn shocks or shock mounts, worn suspension bushes, worn ball joints, worn steering rack, etc. The only way to determine the cost to repair is to take the vehicle to a mechanic to diagnose the cause. I suggest you test drive with a mechanic to reproduce the fault and this way it might be quicker to pin point where the fault is.

You should also ensure that there is no loose stones lying on the suspension components as this can also cause a noise.
