I have a 2001 used import Toyota Altezza with factory installed GPS.

Is there any way to convert it to operate in English with NZ mapping etc.

The short answer to your question is no and I say that after seeking specific detail from Toyota NZ.

The Japanese system is different to the New Zealand one, and as a result the mapping data we use in NZ is not compatible.
