Recently my missus was stranded with a flat battery, fortunately she found a mechanic nearby and they replaced it with a new one.

When I took a look at it, I noticed some gloss, yellow looking stuff on both of the battery terminals. They don't seem to be the usual white powder corrosion as it is very hard to remove.

The mechanic said it is a sillicon based anti-corrosion spray. In the old days I've been taught to apply grease or vasaline on the terminals to keep them in good shape - I'm curious as to what kind of product they've used these days? A link or something would be helpful as I've never heard of that before. Cheers!

There are numerous products that leave a coating on the battery terminal that protects against corrosion. They are normally hard to remove and come in different colour (blue, red,etc.). These products are good as they do not come off easily and don't run off when they get hot.

You can have a look at the Wurth website as they offer a product like this. See the Wurth UK website..
