I've heard that it's quite common for the central screen on these cars to be inoperable.

Is this usually just a case of replacing the display or do these failures go deeper than that?

Who in Auckland would you recommend with these sort of problems? Many thanks for your advice :)

I presume you are referring to the radio display screen. The Japanese import vehicles often have these large screen radios fitted to them when they arrive. The problem is they are in Japanese and unless you are fluent in the language you will not be able to use it. If you figure it out then you will need to fit a band expander to receive all the local radio stations.

There are radio fitment specialists who can install a standard radio in place of this Japanese radio that will save you the trouble of trying to repair a radio you cannot use. Normally when the screen fails it will cost a lot more to repair than fitting a replacement - if the internal part of the radio is faulty.

You should make contact with any specialist radio shop and they should be able to assist you with either a repair or alternative.

You can contact Rapid Radio on 0800 746 637 as we have heard they are good to deal with but unfortunately we do not have firsthand experience dealing with them.
