I bought a 2005 Nissan Maxima and have now found the remote and the spare car key don't work. When I rang Nissan they seemed to suggest that maybe I actually need new ones, and that the cost of new ones and having the car reprogramed will cost around $800.
What are the other options I can have that are less expensive?

Depending on the type of key, it's possible that an aftermarket solution may be available. However, if not, then the only option is for genuine Nissan parts.
