I have a flywheel problem in my 07 Ranger and the cost of replacing the dual mass model is expensive but there is a conversion kit available back to a standard type clutch and flywheel much cheaper. Is this conversion to be recommended.

The engineers who designed the engine and transmission did so with a dual mass flywheel (DMF) in mind so it's best to keep with this setup. The DMF helps to smooth out the high torque output of the engine and by fitting a solid flywheel in place of a DMF the drive will be harsh and this could effect the transmission in the long run as well - extra load will be put on other components with the solid flywheel.

Completely agree. I have driven a ranger with this conversion done and it was horrible
