I have the above car with only 47000kms , I know every one says change cambelt at 100000kms or 5years which ever comes first ,But with only 47000kms , dose the cambelt still wear with age if the car is not running ?.
Don't really want to go out and spend $1300 on new cambelt and water pump if I could get another 50000kms out of the one I have got.
Thanks
Raymond

As it is a rubber toothed belt and it does deteriorate with age as well as mileage we suggest you stick to the manufacturers recommendations and have the cambelt replaced. If the cambelt fails it will cause major mechanical failure which will run into the thousands of dollars to repair.
