I'm thinking of buying a Mitsubishi Pajero and have seen a 2000 diesel model. Its has 250k on the clock. I was wondering whether that is a little on the high side for mileage or is that number of kays not really an issue?
Also given that it is a diesel engine with a lot of mileage are there any particular issues to bear in mind regarding servicing of the engine and the cost of servicing?

Thx

The mileage is a bit on the high side for this engine. With this mileage you can expect to do some major repairs in the near future. Diesel engines can be costly to overhaul and considering the mileage is already at 250,000km I would expect this will be necessary soon. Besides the engine the transmission, differentials and suspension have also travelled this mileage and would likely need some work done to them as well.

You should have a look at vehicles with mileage in the range of 130,000km or lower. Even an older vehicle with lower mileage will be a better option.
