i had my right side view mirror assembly broken recently and it was left hanging. i have taped it and managed to hold it in place. will this have an affect on getting wof? It is due next week. and if i need to get it repaired, which will be the best place to get it fixed.

Without seeing it, it's a little hard to say. As long as the mirror is properly secure, it may not be a problem. If the taped repair looks like it may fall off at any time and the mirror can't be adjusted properly, then it will fail.
Any garage should be able to tackle this repair - most likely by fitting a new or second hand mirror.
