Hi,

I had a flat car battery a week or so ago and AA got the car running for me again. I mentioned to the service guy that I had a charger at home and he reckoned I would need to charge the battery for approx. 1 week to get the green light on the battery to show the battery is fully charged. I have charged the battery now for over 100 hours, but no green light has yet to appear. I realise it hasn't been a week yet, but is it worth continuing with the charging? The car is starting well now. Will the green light appear at some stage if I continue to charge?

I'm presuming your charger is just a small low output trickle charger, as a higher output charger would have fully charged the battery in that time.
Even though the car is now starting, it seems that the battery is still not fully charged, or is possible that the battery is faulty. A battery needs to be fully charged before it can be established whether it is faulty or not.
In the event that the green charge indicator light fails to show in the next day or two, I'd suggest having your local garage or auto-electrician test the battery. If the test is still inconclusive, it may pay to have the garage charge the battery on their commercial charger, and then test the battery.
