I have a Honda Fit 2007 1300 automatic, started occasionally jerking. Took it to Automatic Transmission Specialists who did a service and was OK for a while. It's now started occasionally jerking again. My son in law has suggested I sell it as it could be costly to repair. What do you think, please?

I believe this year model will have a CVT transmission fitted to it which has a poor reputation. The transmission repair/replacement could be very costly so the easiest option is to sell it - but you need to make mention of the transmission fault when advertising it (don't falsely advertise the car). The transmission fault will reduce the selling price of the vehicle. You could have the transmission repaired/replaced but you should shop around for some pricing to get an idea what it will cost - but remember even if you replace it there is no guarantee how long it will last past the repair warranty period.

Thanks for that. I visited my garage and the Automatic Transmission people today. The latter felt my problem wasn't with the transmission because it wasn't having a problem when initially starting but later as I drove along. They thought it could be the spark plugs (it has 8? ) so I then went to an Auto Electrician and he suggested I have them changed. I'm going to initially check with my garage again as to whether they changed 4 of the plugs at my last service - they confirmed today that they didn't know I had 8 spark plugs despite me telling them last year!!! Does this make sense to you? because if it is only the spark plugs I may reconsider having to sell or if I do I don't need to mention problems with transmission? Thanks again..

Eight spark plugs sound correct but if it is just the spark plugs it will be a quick and affordable fix. My only concern is that after the transmission specialists carried out a service on the transmission the problem disappeared for a while which would indicate more in the direction of the g/box and the fact that they are known to give trouble makes me even more suspicious. The spark plugs won't cost too much to replace so it’s worth going on the mechanics diagnosis.
