what is the cost estimate to put a heli coil into my cambelt tension tread? what procedures will have to be done to repair this job, and how long will it take? will the engine needed to be pulled out and if so how much will that be? my car is a honda integra 1997 coup d15b engine. cheers for your help

It is unlikely that the engine will need removing as it should be accessible by loosening the g/box mounting and front engine mount then tilting the engine. There is no set amount for this type of repair and the repairers normally charge depending on how much time they have to spend. The damaged thread will need to be drilled out and tapped to accommodate the helicoil and then the helicoil will be fitted. It sounds easy but because of the restricted space at the cambelt area it could be time consuming. If it takes just less than an hour to do the repair it could cost around $80 for the helicoil work alone but this might be wishful thinking and it is likely to take more time. The cambelt replacement should cost around $360.

If the engine needs removing, depending on the repairer, it can cost around $700.00 on labour for removing and refitting the engine only.
