Looking at another car, Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, but most late ones are CVT. I tow alot, up to 500kg, so I require durability. My present Civic has never missed a beat in 24 years, and auto, but what about 2005 on? Can CVT take it or not?
Thanks.
Neither the Corolla or Civic sold new in New Zealand around this era were CVT. There may be some used import CVT's out there and these are not the most suitable for towing.
So, if you can find a NZ new or import model with the conventional automatic transmission, this would be the preference.
Having said that, the later model (2011/2012 on) Civic and Corolla sold new in NZ now use CVT transmissions and with advances in technology, they may now be fine for towing light loads.
Thanks for that reply. Will stick to the tried and true. [-:
