Hey, I'm just wondering if a toyota altezza is worth around $5000 dollars and if anyone one could please tell me how reliable it is? thanks :)

The price sounds right for a high mileage, average condition and 1998 model. They have a good reputation but you should avoid cars that have been modified/engine tuning. The Altezza is basically a Japanese domestic equivalent of the Lexus IS200. They can be expensive to repair, due to their high level of specification. They have a cambelt that needs replacing every 5 years/100,000km whichever comes first. You should ensure the cambelt has been replaced recently as this is a costly exercise. You should rather look for one with low mileage and a good service history.

In this price range you might want to have a look at the Toyota Corolla, Mazda Familia and Nissan Pulsar as good options to buy. They have good reputations for reliability.
