I will be out of the country for 32 days.
Can I just leave my car in the garage for that period and start it successfully when I return, or do I have to disconnect "things" or have someone start it up periodically?

I would not start disconnecting things as this could cause other problems with the electronics of the car. The best thing to do, if this is a option, is have someone start the vehicle and let it run for a while (around 30 minutes) midway through your trip. The worst case scenario, if the vehicle doesn't start, you might have to call the AA (As you are a member) to come out and jump start the vehicle on your return.
