Hi,

My Mazda Demio 05 has a small button on the gear stick which when pressed shows an orange light on the speedometer saying 'HOLD'. What is this feature all about and how am I suppose to best utilise it ?

Many thanks !

It holds the car in the gear it is in. It's main function is to prevent it from kicking down and spinning the wheels when you are driving in slippery conditions such as snow and ice. For general use, it's unlikely to be used very much at all.

This is a very useful button on a Mazda. What it does is to change down to the gear below what gear has been selected and hold it in that gear. eg. if D is selected it will change and hold it in third, if 3 is selected it changes and holds in second and so on.

It's really handy if you are driving either in windy roads or crawling in traffic.
