Our Mitzi Chariot starter motor was failing, so we had it serviced by an AA approved repairer - new brushes, bushes, drive. They charged for three hours labour. Is this reasonable? The car clock only lost 1.5 hours.
It seems when the AA guy helped us out initially, he had sent our details ahead to the repairer, so that the repairer already had my wife's cellphone number, without our knowledge or consent. Is this usual?

Normally a starter overhaul would take approx 1.5 to 2 hours once the starter motor is removed from the car.
Assuming that some time was spent working on the vehicle, checking current draw, testing the starter circuit etc before removal and after installation, I would have guessed that the total time for a job such as this would be between 2.5 to 3 hours, so the amount charged to you seems about right.
I'm not sure what your concern is about the contact details as it would be normal for the repairer to be able to contact the owner.
