I recently had the above part replaced in my Nissan Primera. Since then, every time the car is used, the front right hand side of the car gets quite hot, you can feel the heat coming off it when you get out of the car.
Would the new replacement be causing this?
I can't think of any reason why replacing a steering joint would cause the car to get hot. Maybe it's just heat transferred from the engine and is quite normal??
Just a quick thought. It you turn the steering wheel from full lock one way and then full lock the other way is the tyre definitely clear of everything? Specifically, is the tyre rubbing against anything (that could generate a lot of heat)?
And when you say the right front side gets hot - what actually is getting hot?
From the front of the right hand hood to the drivers door you can feel the heat coming off it when you have stopped The left hand side gets warm but not as much as the right. It was never like that before i got the steering rack replaced.
This is what I presumed you meant (ie; the actual bodywork of the vehicle is hot). The only possibility that comes to mind that could cause heat transfer to be greater than before is if an exhaust heat shield has been removed for any reason and not put back on.
I would suggest you go back to the repairer and ask them to investigate.
