I'm not sure if this is the correct section in which to ask this question, but I'll fire ahead anyway. I've been told by a dealer that the new SsangYong Actyon 4WD Sports Ute doesn't need a Limited Slip Diff. in off-road situations as it has ESP which is more efficient as it's electronic and acts on all 4 wheels. Is this correct - would ESP do the same, or a better job, in providing traction in such common off-road situations as mud, wet grass, sand, loose gravel etc?

The dealer is on the right track with what he's saying, but it's the Traction Control that is preventing the wheels from spinning under these conditions, not the ESP as such.
Many manufacturers are now using electronics rather than heavy mechanical components to deal with these situations and the systems are very effective.
