Can you advise if this particular model vehicle has a cam belt or a timing chain?

According to our information, there are 2 different engines for the Ford Laser (Mazda 323) from this era, one has a B3 engine and a belt, the other an E3 engine with a chain.
The one with the belt will have a plastic cover at the "business" end of the engine (ie, where the drive belts and pulleys are), while the other is all alloy.
If in any doubt which your one is, run it into a garage and a mechanic will be able to tell you by having a quick look.
