I recently had a parking incident almost immediately after leaving a car wash. I was driving a 2007 Misibishi Outlander. As I came to a halt in the parking space the car suddemly shot forward slightly injuring a passing pedestrian. The police are charging me with careless driving casuing an injury. Whilst the suspicion is that I must have suddenly switched my foot from the brake to the accelerator I am positive this didn't happen.'It was a shock and a mystery. I have now resd about the phenomenom of sudden unintentional acceleration in later model , electronically dependant cars. The description absolutley matched my memory of the event. Have you any information about this as I believe it is a possibility and is the most likely explanation

There was much discussion around this subject a year or two ago, when Toyota was accused of such occurances in the US, and over the years there have been occasional suggestions from drivers that they have thought this had occured. However, to our knowledge, not a single incident has been found to be a vehicle fault and most incidents have been found to be loose floor mats jamming the accelerator pedal or driver error.
Your Mitsubishi dealer should be able to run some tests on your Outlander to check the system, and we suggest you check the floor mats (if fitted). Even if the mats don't look like thay could interfere with the pedal, if they're not properly secured to the floor, it is a possibility.
In our view, it is most unlikely that the electronic system could cause unintentional acceleration to occur.
