Hi...

1996 CRV -"clunky" noise from front wheels/steering rack when going over bumps. What could this be and what's the average price of "boots", "rack" and "labour"? I fully understand that the car has to go in and it is actually booked for Thursday, but wanted to get a "GUESSTIMATE" just for info.

This is clearly something that needs to be looked at by a mechanic in order to determine the cause. There are so many components (struts, ball joints, bushes, mounts etc) that could cause a clunking noise that it is not possible to guess what it may be or what the cost could be. So, sorry, but a "guesstimate" could be so far out that we daren't hazard a guess. You will need to take it in to your mechanic.
