hi,
a light in my car is showing up on the dash board an orange light. the manual says it's to do with an auto-diagnostic problem? i've booked it in to get mechanics to have a look . But are you able to advise what an auto -diagnostic problem is?would it cost me a lot of money to repair?
Is there a reason why it appears, the light appears but when i keep driving it goes away but then comes back. Is there something i could do to check?
Please advise
thanks
Theresa
The on-board engine management system (computer) has detected a fault which will no doubt compromise the way the car is running in terms of performance and fuel consumption.
Your garage will need to check for faults which may be stored in the memory of the computer.
There will be a cost to check for faults which really is the starting point for these sorts of problems.
Additional costs will vary on what is discovered during the diagnostic stage.
The best way to try and stay in control of costs is to tell the garage to keep updated on progress and to seek your approval to carry out any additional work before those repairs are started.
