Hi, I have searched high and low and even asked a Ford dealer to answer my question but they want to book me in for a service to find out what it means! Surely someone can answer my question BEFORE I have to go and spend money fixing the problem? I thought it may have something to do with the electric windows as the drivers side controls are only working intermittently. The light on the dashboard comes up as ETC it doesn't stay on all the time it just seems to randomly come on. The car seems to be driving fine and it just had an AA Pre Purchase Inspection 3 weeks ago. Anyway help please

You don’t need to book the vehicle in for a service but I suspect you will need to have a scanning tool connected to determine whether there is a fault code being held in the Electronic Management Control systems memory.

If a code is showing it can hopefully identify the cause of the problem which can shorten the overall technician diagnosing and repair time.

I’m surprised the Ford Dealer can’t be a little bit more helpful as I would be very surprised if they had not encountered this problem before.

What you need to be prepared for is a reasonably high charge for the electronic scan. This has become standard industry practice of late.
